It has been an exciting start to our 2011-2012 school year as we begin to create our new learning community at the Nathan Hale School. I am so grateful for the energy, creativity and dedication of our staff and for the generosity and involvement of so many of our wonderful families.
Our staff has worked hard to prepare a year of academic challenge as well as learning experiences that help our students and classes develop a sense of social responsibility. We believe that we owe each child an environment built on high expectations and that our role as educators is to provide the appropriate support for all students to achieve their best in each area of their schooling. We also know that in order to do this, school and home must work together with shared trust and respect. We encourage you to call, write or make an appointment to meet in person whenever you have a question, concern or idea that will help us to understand how your son or daughter learns best.
We believe that there are three important ways for us to help our young students feel valued and confident and to develop a desire to learn:
- We provide an environment in which adults care about each student as a person and believe that each child has the ability to learn.
- We have high academic and behavioral standards and we make certain that students know exactly what is expected of them and that they learn and practice the skills they need to meet our expectations.
- We provide opportunities every day for students to be actively engaged in their learning, help each other to succeed, and feel an important part of their school community.
Already, Nathan Hale is becoming a very special learning community because of its curious and eager students, an innovative and dedicated staff, and so many hard working and loving families. We are grateful for the time and effort that our PTO has given to host special events this fall that bring us all together. As our year progresses, our staff is also working to create new traditions that nurture our children, celebrate their strengths and talents, and help them realize their unique importance in the Nathan Hale Learning Community.
Please do not hesitate to call me (860-763-8898) or email me (lbeaulieu@enfieldschools.org) if you ever have any questions, concerns or ideas. It continues to be an honor and a joy to work and learn with you and with your children.
Sincerely,
LeAnn G. Beaulieu
Principal
